Hybrid

Hybrid is inspired by the natural environment and embodies past experiences of the artist’s travels into remote communities. The use of bone and twine alludes to fragments of primitive life and rural landscapes, whilst the coiled and annular structures seem to be creations of contemporary adornment.

Davies’ process in creating her works is all about discovery and invention; a largely experimental practice that explores contemporary materials and unconventional methods. She has a deep curiosity in removing materials from common functionality, such as packaging, and being able to transform what is intrinsically ugly and mundane, into something beautifully rare.
